BMC Mumbai to consider Software to Monitor Complaints about Potholes
Following the footsteps of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to consider software to monitor complaints about potholes and undertake immediate repairs. Officials claimed that they would be able to attend to potholes immediately with the software. A presentation on the system will be made for corporators and civic officials on Thursday.
The software will also be used to check the quality of raw material used and track the quality of roads. The system will prioritize the maintenance system. It will be uploaded with the history of all roads, with detailed information on the trouble spots.
Meanwhile, the civic body has decided to test material from six companies at a cost of Rs 50 lakh. Each of the companies that supplies material to fill potholes met civic officials on Tuesday. Within two days, each company will be assigned a location at busy spots to fill potholes on a trial basis. After 15 to 20 days, we will see which has succeeded. Six executive engineers will monitor the spots. The material will then be included in the next tender ,” said standing committee chairman Rahul Shewale.
But, it is not that we don’t have good material. The problem is that contractors don’t do their job properly. We have suggested to the administration that the work be carried out not by our contractors but by the suppliers themselves,” he added. Those who made presentations were Hindustan Colaco, Wonderpatch, Carboncor, Patchmaster, Shalimar Tar Product and Geo Polymer.
