Builder fined 20 lakh for not handing over flat
A builder has been directed to pay for the execution of conveyance, agreement and registration for a 1.000-sq-ft flat for not handing over to a buyer seven years after the full payment of Rs 22 lakh was made.
The Maharashtra State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission also told the builder to hand over the flat on Veera Desai Road within 45 days, if not he will have to pay another Rs 5 lakh as interest.
The complainant, Haresh Kuvadia, paid a total of Rs 22 lakh in March 22 2005 for an apartment in Andheri (W) from M/s Vaidehi Akash Housing Pvt Ltd. But the builder failed to execute the deal and did not hand over the flat, following which Kuvadia lodged a complaint in 2011.
