No Comments Sub Category:Mumbai,Realty News Posted On: Apr 16, 2013

TenementsAbout 26 developers are at the receiving end as they have failed to hand over the state government’s share of tenements.

Also, the builders have ignored the notices that had been sent to them by the state urging them to hand over the buildings soon and also pay the penalty for the delay.

Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) in October 2012 had sent notices to around 33 builders who had to hand over 3,300 tenements, a total of approximately 14,000 sq m in area after re-developing cessed buildings in Mumbai.

As per reports, the total penalty that has to be collected is around Rs 31.41 crore, of which MHADA has been able to collect just Rs 5.21 crore so far.

Till date, notices have been sent to those builders who have obtained No-Objection Certificates from MHADA between 1991 and 2003. The names include Arvind Properties Pvt Ltd, Oscar Builders Pvt Ltd, Sunny Constructions, Sanghavi Estate and Construction Pvt Ltd and Siddhivinayak Construction Pvt Ltd.

Out of all the builders who have received notices, seven of them have responded and shown willingness to hand over the flats and pay penalty. Action will be taken against the others as ensured by chief officer of MHADA’s Mumbai Repair and Reconstruction Board.

A time span of six months was given to comply with the rules.

The projects where the developers were to handover developed units are located in areas such as Mazgaon, Byculla, Dadar, Prabhadevi, Mahim, Lower Parel and Matunga.
