BWSSB Bangalore Refunded Rs 2340 to Vasundhara
The BWSSB on Tuesday refunded Rs 2340 to P Vasundhara, a resident of Padmanabhanagar, after billing her Rs 9,018. BWSSB officials visited her home and refunded Rs 2,340. Vasundhara was shocked to find her April water bill run up to Rs 6,018.
The BWSSB Bangalore had slapped a water bill of Rs 6,018 on Vasundhara, 80 yrs old, a resident of Padmanabhanagar. Her problem was compounded as the payment was debited through electronic clearance service (ECS), but she ended up paying Rs 3,000 in cash to BWSSB.
The board said the hefty bill was due to the faulty meter at her house. BWSSB officials visited her home and refunded Rs 2,340. BWSSB has also altered the faulty meter.
“Yes, it was a problem with the faulty meter. Going by the average water usage in that house for the past six months, we have realized that the bill amount would be Rs 660. It is not possible to refund what has been paid through ECS, but it will be deducted through the bill for each month from now. We have refunded Rs 2,340, taking only Rs 660,” Said BWSSB assistant executive engineer D H Malleshaiah.
