Campa Cola residents approach BMC to legalize flats
The residents have again asked the civic administration for regularization unauthorized flats in Worli’s Campa Cola Compound. It has been two weeks since the Supreme Court asked residents of illegal and and the BMC to find a solution to their ongoing row.
February 3 verdict of the Supreme Court (SC) granted the occupants four week breather. They live in 35 unauthorized floors in seven buildings. They are exploring options such as procuring additional floor space index (FSI) from nearby projects.
BMC has been approached by the residents to consider the proposal to convert the industrial plot adjoining the compound to a residential plot. The residents pointed out that additional FSI resulting from the plot can be procured and used to regularize unauthorized flats. They also added though most of the FSI (about 67,000 sq ft) is unauthorized but can be regularized and approved.
However, officials point out that the suggestions are yet to reach the authorities.
