Cellphone tower may need 70 percent residents’ permission
Mumbai- Mobile operators may need approvals from 70 percent residents of a housing society to set up a cellphone tower.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is planning to make it compulsory for an operator to get permission from 70% residents of that housing society on which a mobile tower is proposed. The draft from the High court mentions that only two towers will be allowed on a building terrace and no towers will be installed on hospitals and school buildings.
The mobile operator has to recieve the structural certificate from a structural engineer who holds valid BMC licence. The civic body is also planning to increase the operator’s deposit amount.
