Chandigarh Metro not far away
Chandigarh may finally witness the metro rail project in Tricity. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) who was vested with the responsibility of the project, has submitted a detailed project report. Scientists from DMRC has recently concluded its research of analyzing soil and rock in and around the area where the route will be constructed. The soil and rock testing for the project had lasted for three months. The reports of the analysis will be submitted with DMRC including the governments of Punjab and Haryana as they are Union Territory’s partners in this big project.
Earlier, the UT administrator Mr Shivraj Patil in a meeting with the Prime Minister and some officials of the National Planning Commission, had highlighted on the requirement of the metro rail project. He had said that the project should be started immediately and in a fast pace. He stressed on the point that the city requires an underground transport system for the convenience of commuters of Tricity.
