Chennai councillors returned back funds meant for developing wards
The funds that are being assigned by the Chennai corporation to the councillors for development of wards is not being used at all.
The councillors are returning the funds back without even using them.
That is why, problems like poor garbage disposal, bad roads, and mosquitoes breeding are getting prospered in some of the localities in the city.
Every year, councillors are alloted with Rs 30 lakh for works like road laying, construction of footpaths and construction of meal centres.
But they do not use it and around Rs 46.50 crore for 2011-12 was left unused.
