Clean City Project to Ramky Group by GMC Guwahati
Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) additional commissioner S Thiek reported saying “commuters used to find it difficult to travel when the organization used to clear garbage between 7 am and 3 pm. “The change, effected from September 1, has been made keeping the convenience of city dwellers in mind. The Supreme Court had ruled that residents violating garbage dumping rules can be sent to jail. The GMC is keeping close eye on flat owners. Their housing permits can be scrapped if they violate cleanliness rules,”
The job of disposing the solid waste in the city has been assigned to the “Ramky Group” who plays a pioneer role in infrastructure developments. The Ramky group has been reporting that frequent queries from the residents on the unclear garbage regularly.
One of the officials of the leading environment and waste management organization said there has been a mixed response from people to its decision of changing the timing of collecting waste from 5 pm to 12 am. While 60 per cent of the residents are happy, the rest seemed that the timings and this procedure was not up to their mark.
