CM assured no Demolition of Green Belt near Shanker Chowk
The Rapid Metro Gurgaon Limited (RMGL) carried out piling work at portion of a green belt near Shanker Chowk on Sunday. The district administration, along with HUDA, had carried out a demolition on Friday afternoon. However, this was to the dissatisfaction of the residents.
According to sources, the licence agreement between the state and the housing society specifies that the green belt area shall be returned to HUDA in case of any public utility or service like that of a metro construction.
On Sunday afternoon, several representatives of Resident Welfare Association of National Media Centre met the Haryana chief minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda due to the demolition work near Shankar Chowk and CM has assured the residents and directed Gurgaon HUDA administrator, Nitin Yadav, to carry out a systematic acquisition on the patch of 50 metres of land, said Kulwant Singh, general secretary, National Media Centre Co-operative house building society.
“The chief minister has also asked the administrator to look at the compensation money which can be paid for this land. The administrator will also meet us to discuss the matter,” added Singh.
The small patch of 2.5 metres of land under question is required for the construction of the first privately owned RMGL. The officials of RMGL had requested HUDA that the patch of land be provided to them since they had a time-bound schedule to finish the work.
