Competition prevails in city coffee shops
Coffee joints in India, quiet famous within today’s era have caught a dominant competition among themselves.
Chains like Cafe Coffee Day, Barista Coffee Company, Lavazza Expression and Costa Coffee have been prime brands in major cities and metros trying to copy the same flavour as of biggies like Starbucks, French Press, Pour-Over and Siphon.
These shops are even trying to grow in number to lure in more customers in different age group.
Take Bangalore for example, there is a Coffee Day near MG Road which also has a Coffee Day Lounge within a few metres distance for its elite customers.
Nowadays, the coffee joints are being set up with a main motto of providing exact ambience as of Starbucks with premium price.
Even regular customers enjoy going to these places after a long tiring day of work. Some even discuss business in the silent ambience of the cafes.
The potential for coffee cafes in India, despite its image as a tea drinker, certainly appears huge .” Cafes are the new interview hot-spot. It’s great to sip coffee and talk ideas,” said Sumit Jain, co-founder of commonfloor.com, who recently interviewed people for his team in coffee cafes.
Harish Bijoor, CEO od Harish Bijoor Consults says, there will be caste system in the pricing of coffee. “Starbucks will play in the $3 price point, whereas Costa Coffee will be over $2 and Cafe Coffee Day will still have an edge in the $1 coffee market,” he said.
