DDA budget focuses on affordable homes, infra projects
New Delhi- Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has passed its budget for 2013-14 which mainly focuses on development of affordable housing projects in its sub-cities and infrastructure development projects, followed by maintenance of green areas, building community centres and multi-storey wedding venues and more.
The DDA Budget for the fiscal 2013-2014 was passed on Tuesday at an Authority meeting. Lt-Governor and the DDA chairman Tejendra Khanna has sought for a monitoring chart showing targets, timelines and deadlines for all the projects has to be provided by the next meeting so that the projects can be monitored for deadlines and cost escalation.
The Authority is planning to allot 30,000 new low-income houses for poor in this financial year. The flats are located in Rohini, Dwarka and Narela and at present, the construction of these units is nearing completion.
A budget of Rs 2,543.05 crore has been estimated for the 2013-14 fiscal which is 22 percent higher than the budget estimate of Rs 2,156.37 crore for 2012-13. It is expected that the 22 percent extra budget would aid in completing the residential, commercial and institutional land development work taken up in Rohini, Dwarka, Narela, Jasola, Bakkarwala, Maidan Garhi, Kirti Nagar, Paschim Vihar, Alaknanda, etc. However, housing sector remains the first priority.
The land-owning agency is expecting that a revenue worth Rs 5876.85 crore would be collected in 2013-14 from disposal of land, houses and shops.
At the beginning of the 2012-2013 financial year, 30,813 houses were in under-construction stage of which, 4,321 houses have been put up for a draw by the housing wing.
Around 4,855 economically weaker section (EWS) houses and 24,660 lower income group (LIG) houses were planned to be taken up for construction in Dwarka, Narela and Rohini and these are expected to be completed in 2013-14. And in Kalkaji Extension, construction of 3000 EWS houses will soon start and a budget of Rs 30 crore has been estimated for this project.
It has also been proposed to take up development of 10 Master Plan roads with a provision of Rs 140.39 crore. Green projects of Delhi including Yamuna riverfront, Astha Kunj, Satpula lake complex and maintenance and development of biodiversity parks of Yamuna and Aravalli are also in the line.
