Delhi government is all set to improve the connectivity and infrastructure of the national capital. Delhi Development Authority (DDA) will develop public plazas, food courts and shopping areas within the catchment areas of most of the 65 Metro stations. This will be a part of the phase three of the project.

DDA will also develop five world-class integrated passenger terminals as transit hubs for the seamless integration of the different modes of transport with the feeder services. There will be cycles integrated in this system and all these measures are taken to ensure last mile connectivity.

In a review meeting chaired by the urban development minister Venkaiah Naidu a detailed list of initiatives for the seamless and hassle-free travel in the city were submitted.

An official explained that the integrated passenger terminals will come up at Anand Vihar, Sarai Kale Khan, Dwarka Sector-21, Tikri Kalan and Kashmere Gate. Regional and international commuters may make use of these hubs which will provide seamless travel.

Naidu also asked the DDA to address the problems of congestion on the city roads, housing, lack of public spaces and other amenities.DDA would take up initiatives very soon to decongest some of the busiest roads of the city. This will be done by constructing elevated roads, upgradation and extension without passing through the inner areas of Delhi.

Urban Extension Road-II connecting North Delhi with the airport/Gurgaon without requiring to pass through the congested areas of Central and South Delhi will be done under this de-congestion program. Extension of Chattarpur & Mandi Road to have better connectivity with Gurgaon, Extension of Barapullah Phase-III from East Delhi to Airport, Dwarka Expressway and new connections from Noida and Faridabad will be the other critical roads which will be de-congested under this project of DDA.
