Delay in demolition of railway overbridge in Kochi
In the recent events that followed the declaration of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) in Kochi to demolish the second side bay of the North railway overbridge (RoB) , the authority has divulged that it cannot complete the task unless the completion of the repair works between Rajaji Road and Pachalam railway gate is done.
In a statement issued by the DMRC it was stated that it will take another three days to start the second phase of the demolition. They have said that only when the repair work is completed the traffic can be channelled through the route assisting commuters.
Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) managing director Tom Jose have said the delay is due to the added work of cleaning up the site on Chitoor road. He said that the previous builder has left the area in a mess that had to be sorted by the DMRC, also the recent downpour had also brought the work to a stand standstill. There are also a disputes with Kochi corporation about the relocation of the traders that are under the Railway Over Bridge.
