Delhi-Gurgaon ExpresswayGurgaon- The takeover of the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway by Infrastructure Development Financial Company (IDFC) has led to chaos in the maintenance of the project.

Delhi-Gurgaon Super Connectivity Ltd (DGSCL) said that they had been working as per the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).

NHAI, IDFC and other stakeholders have scheduled a meeting on Wednesday in which the terms and conditions of the proposed deal would be discussed in detail.

Additional toll gates with portacabins have been installed at 32-lane toll plaza in order to improve the efficiency, said DGSCL spokesperson. This measure was taken following the directions of Punjab and Haryana high court in August 2012.

The highway authority and the private concessionaire, DGSCL, had together signed an MoU which clearly lists the various maintenance works like overlaying of entire expressway, road signs and markings by January 31, introduction of smart card, expansion of toll plaza at Kherki Dhaula and more.

A joint inspection was carried out by stakeholders and a list containing 35 traffic-related works on the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway was prepared. Most of these works including the overlaying work are yet to be started. Even the private concessionaire has not taken any step in order to popularize smart cards.

During the inspection carried out by the stakeholders, several measures were taken up. Some of the initiatives include- widening of existing U-turns, a separate U-turn construction under Udyog Vihar flyover to give passage to commuters coming to Udyog Vihar/Shankar Chowk and moving towards Ambience Mall, decongestion of all the major intersections on the e-way, installing and rectifying of streetlights and many more.
