Delhi Metro to start 8 coach trains on trial basis
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is starting trial for eight-coach trains from October. The step has been taken to ease the crowds and these trains will be put into revenue service by this year end.
HUDA city centre-Jehangirpuri and Dwarka-Noida/Vaishali corridors are the ones to be benefitted by these trains as the eight-coach trains are expected to ease the crowds on these two lines.
According to DMRC sources, Delhi Metro will convert 37 six-coach trains on line 2 into eight-coach trains, while 31 trains on line 3 will be eight-coach trains by February 2014. One of the Bombardier four-coach trains will also be converted into a six-coach train on the Gurgaon corridor.
