Developers in Surat neither adhere Regulations nor claim No Objection Certificate
The developers in Surat have adhered to the regulations passed by the Union environment ministry. However to Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) dismay that many have been found not to have neither applied for the No Objection Certificate (NOC) nor have fulfilled the provisions of green open area in their projects, reported saying Anil Pate the head of Surat region. The SMC and Surat Urban Development Authority (SUDA) have obtained a list nearing 200 high-rise projects that is spread over a land area covering more than 20,000 square metres.
The Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) reports over the same issue saying that the maximum percentage of the flat buyers are unaware of the building law and according to the Surat region office of the GPCB, hardly 52 out of 200 developers with prevailing projects have spread over more than 20,000 square metres and have applied for the mandatory NOC to be granted from the state appraisal committee. Serious action will be taken from now onwards to the builders who have not yet applied for NOC and also who are found violating green building norms.
