Dhaula Kuan metro station in Delhi a challenge for DMRC
The metro station at Dhaula Kuan is challenging as it is a traffic-heavy intersection. The station is a part of Mukundpur-Shiv Vihar line of Phase III. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) spokesperson Anuj Dayal informs that special equipment for construction will be used due to the uniqueness of the station — curving viaduct of line 7 (Mukundpur-Shiv Vihar), which will come in from Brar Square and curve over the Dhaula Kuan intersection towards Moti Bagh.
Three long spans will be used by the Metro to prevent the traffic from stopping, either on the surface or Airport Metro. These spans will have 13 segments. A span is usually 31m long and consists of 9-12 segments. Macalloy bar, a special equipment, will be used to place these spans.
