DLF’s Gurgaon project to be reviewed by CCI
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) will hear a complaint of ‘abuse of dominant position’ against real estate major DLF in next 10 days. This is actually regarding an upcoming project in Gurgaon. According to competition law experts, the court will examine all the aspects of the complaint along with the proof, if any, before deciding to either admit it for further probe or dismiss it. The court will also hear DLF’s defence against the complaint.
The complaint is regarding residential project called ‘New Town Height‘ in Sector-86, 90, and 91 in Gurgaon and the nature of complaint talks about one-sided agreements in favour of the company. It is alleged that as per the buyers’ agreement, the developer will stop residents from making any modifications/changes to the project that consists of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom-hall-kitchen apartments, independent floors and town houses.
The regulator examined a similar complaint against the company in 2012 where the proof of abuse of competition laws was not found.
