Eligibility cards for the Kalaignar Housing Scheme were distributed
According to a release, Law Minister Durai Murugan handed over the cards to the beneficiaries. Eligibility cards for the Kalaignar Housing Scheme were distributed to beneficiaries at Alangayam, Tirupattur and Jolarpet panchayat unions on Wednesday. A total of 5,215 persons received the eligibility cards on Wednesday.
There were a total of 7,044 huts in Alangayam panchayat union and the government was giving Rs. 75,000 to convert the huts into concrete houses. In Tirupattur panchayat union, a total of 9,836 huts were enumerated, of which 7,880 were eligible for the scheme. A total of 11,912 huts had been enumerated in Jolarpet panchayat union limit. Out of this, 8,413 were eligible for the scheme.
In Tirupattur panchayat union, eligibility cards had already been issued to 2,138 beneficiaries and 5,742 cards were given on Wednesday and in Jolarpet panchayat union, 1,695 huts were currently being converted into concrete houses. It had been decided to grant eligibility cards to 6,718 families in the union and 1,503 cards were already given.
