Expect extended hours of power cut in Chennai
Summer has already rushed in and the power cuts are back into action! The talk of the hour is that power cuts are being planned to be extending for more number of hours.
At present Chennai city is facing two hours of regular power cut, however now it has been planned to be extended upto four hours.
The fact is that the state is facing power deficit of more than 4,000MW. One of the power sources say that the power deficit can only be solved only if the wind energy goes up.
Due to the congestion on transmission lines the state is lagging behind to purchase power from other states. The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) is facing such a kind of situation wherein there is no capacity addition for more than 10 years.
In order to save power for the near future and extend power cuts the TNEB has decided to file a petition with the Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission.
