First anniversary celebrated by Lulu Mall
In the press release issued by the management of the Lulu Mall on its first anniversary in Kochi, it is being touted as the most famous shopping place in city. During last year, more than 2 crore people visited that mall. The management of mall also added that they have paid 34 crore as a tax (in various forms). At this time Lulu Mall has more than 176 outlets and provides job to 46,000 people, whereas 6,000 people get indirect employment. One week long celebration was launched by Mall on Monday, in which Lulu retail awards were given for the best performing retailers at the mall, across 20 categories. The Mall has also launched a ‘Shop & Win’ contest for its customers till March14.
M.A.Yusuffali, Managing Director, says that the group is planning to launch 10 new shopping Malls in Kerala and in other state as well. He also says that to improve its retail and export business, the company is planning to open a logistics centre and cold storage facility in Aluva.
Giving further details, he also mentioned that with its 109 hypermarkets and shopping malls across West Asia, the group is also planning to open 42 hypermarkets in the next two years in UAE, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Egypt and in Saudi Arabia. New markets would also follow in Indonesia, Iraq, Algeria, Morocco and Libya.
