Flats owners in Pune face water scarcity

No Comments Sub Category:Cities,Legal,Pune Posted On: Dec 18, 2012

PMCBefore selling the flats, the builder had assured the flat owners that they will be provided water, but the builder failed to keep the promise and the flat owners are facing acute water shortage.

Pune Forum for Flat Owners is to send a notice to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) addressing the water crisis.

The PMC should not sanction any kind of construction plan in the areas where it is unable to supply water and if the civic body has sanctioned any constructions, then they should disclose any issue to citizens through their website. The same goes with builder as they should also disclose regarding water supply in their advertisements as well as in the agreement.

The association of architects should warn its members to not to be party with any such constructions. And if any such directions from PMC should be cancelled with immediate basis. Founder member and activist Aroona Nafday said that they are planning to tie up with the PIL in the high court. Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been admitted in the High Court regarding provision of water portability in certain areas.

Before investing, the residents should check the locality, area and zone. Pune Municipal Corporation has planned to implement 52 elevated reservoirs in major areas on the outskirts to address the issue. If the water is not sufficient then it is PMC’s responsibility to increase the quantity of water.
