Flyover planned at Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai

This flyover would be constructed on single pillars and will help to reduce traffic at East Coast Road. Similar kind of flyovers are constructed at Thirumangalam, Porur and Moolakadai and the Chennai Metro Rail project. Such flyovers do not acquire more land and occupy less road space.
This newly planned flyover will need additional space for take off and land. According to the sources two ramps have been planned at East Coast Road. Some residents feel that this upcoming flyover will prove very useful for people travelling to the RTO office and beyond from Rajiv Gandhi Salai.
Along with this proposal a pedestrian subway has been proposed at the Thiruvanmiyur junction. This facility will be very helpful for pedestrians as they can enter one side and can exit through any of the remaining side. Residents are expecting highways department to look after its safety and cleanliness parameters. They pointed that the conditions of subways at Delhi and Chennai which are clean and dirty respectively.
The proposal also includes widening of Lattice Bridge road to ease traffic flow.
