FONRWA seeks bus stops at proper places

No Comments Sub Category:Community Posted On: Aug 10, 2010

Public transport has been a trouble for a long time in Noida for commuters. Although the Noida Authority has constructed many bus stops at various places, these stops are useless for commuters as they are located at wrong places. Therefore the Federation of Noida Residents’ Welfare Association (FONRWA) seeks bus stops at proper places in every sector.

Although the Noida Authority has constructed many bus stops at various places, the location of these bus stop is improper. The bus stop constructed outside Sector 52 is just one such example. This bus stop is located just after the signal, where a bus will never stop. “We go every day to the nearby stop on an auto-rickshaw to board the bus as buses don’t come in our area due to the absence of stops.” said Nagendra Shukla, a resident of Sector 55.

FONRWA discussed this issue with Noida Authority (NA) officials recently. FONRWA president NP Singh said, “There is enough space available outside every sector where NA can easily develop bus stops. Noida Authority can also take the help of RWAs for deciding suitable location for the bus stops. Authority can also increase the utility of existing bus stops by changing the routes of buses according to the direction of bus stops.”

“The location of this bus stop is improper as NA has constructed this stand just after signal, where a bus will never stop. Likewise, the stops constructed at Sector 24, 28, 30, 33, 50 and 58 have also proved useless due to their wrong locations.”  said Amit Sharma, a resident of Sector 52. FONRWA senior vice-president AN Dhawan said, “The residents of Sectors like 15A, 17, 18, 19, 32, 33, 50, 54, 55, 62, 63, etc are facing a lot of problems due to unavailability of bus stops outside their sector.”

Noida Authority PRO Jameel Ahmad said, “We agree with the problem of residents, but we cannot develop stops on our own. We have to take permission of Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) and Regional Transport Office (RTO) as they regulate the movement of traffic in the city.”

Lalji Chaudhary, RTO said, “We cannot take an independent decision on this subject as UPSRTC is controlling the movement of government buses. Transport Department finalises the routes for buses, but we cannot suggest the spot for new bus stops to NA without involving the suggestion of UPSRTC. Our officials are coordinating with them in this regard.”

Noida residents have been facing a harrowing time trying to commute by buses  due to lack of sufficient bus stops. Therefore FONRWA seeks bus stops at proper places in every sector. There is enough space available outside every sector where NA can easily develop bus stops. Noida Authority can also take the help of RWAs for deciding suitable location for the bus stops. Noida Authority (NA) need to coordinate with RWAs, UPSRTC and RTO to develop stops so that residents can board buses at their doorstep.
