GHMC Hyderabad to implement Two-Bin System for Garbage Collection
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) commissioner M T Krishna Babu on Tuesday had a meeting with the Federation of Colony Welfare Associations. It was proposed to implement two-bin system of garbage collection in 20 selected colonies to segregate wet and dry garbage at household level itself.
He announced that GHMC would give preference to take up developmental works in the colonies that come forward to implement the two-bin system completely. The corporation proposes to provide 500 additional dustbins in addition to the existing 4,000 bins, he added.
Garbage collectors in the city would be educated on the advantages of two bin collection system as they will be able to sell the dry waste material easily at the franchise counters of manufactures without having to segregate dry and wet garbage them manually in unhygienic conditions.
The commissioner further said that GHMC is modernising the traffic signals with surveillance cameras in 150 junctions.
