GIFT-city plans to construct metro in its campus
Ahmedabad- Gujarat International Finance Tec-City is planning to develop metro rail infrastructure on its own and within its campus.
GIFT city officials approached the state government regarding their plan of the metro rail project. They have been planning to construct a multi-modal transit station at GIFT and other metro stations. Since there is a commercial zone in locations where stations have to be built, the task is likely to be difficult. GIFT metro station plan seems to be different from the usual ones.
According to GIFT city officials, infrastructure work has already been started at GIFT and Rs 300 crore has been spent over it. Special road engineering techniques and underground ducts for utilities have already come up on a large portion of the GIFT non-SEZ area. Residential apartments are also being built in the campus for the employees of GIFT.
The unimportant additions in and around GIFT city buildings have been curbed drastically and they have been made realistic. In order to provide space and utilizable area for investors, GIFT is preparing a better framework in developing 29 storey buildings with sufficient open spaces.
The land was provided by Gujarat government and thus the authorities decided to bring down the cost of the apartments through cutting down additional frills and using quality materials. Now the apartments are available in a range of Rs 3,500 to Rs 5,000 per sq ft and is affordable for investors.
Gujarat International Finance Tec-City will start providing mini-bus facility to visitors of the site by the end of February. In order to encourage people to come to the city and gauge the infrastructure and distance involved, GIFT has planned to provide this facility.
The new metro route that covers parts of the east, north and south Ahmedabad along with the BRTS network will be a key attraction for the city. Metro transport would provide direct access to the place.
Construction of PDPU-GIFT city bridge across the Sabarmati river has also got clearance. The bridge will reduce almost eight kilometers distance from Koba circle to GIFT-city which will reduce the travel time of the residents.
