GMR considers appeal against aviation regulator

No Comments Sub Category:Court Posted On: Mar 14, 2014

The Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) has ordered to scrap the user development fee at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here.  GMR Hyderabad International Airport is considering challenging the order as this will have a negative impact on the company’s financials, said Siddharth Kapur, CFO, GMR Infrastructure’s airport business. Kapur said on the sidelines of India Aviation 2014 that the company is looking at all options, including high court and that of going to the appellate authority.

On February 25, the regulator issued the order scrapping the UDF from April 1. GMR Group is collecting the fees at the airport.  As per the current tariff structure, each departing domestic passenger and international passenger at Hyderabad airport pays Rs 430 and Rs. 1,700 respectively as user development fee.
