GMR turns to HC on UDF charges
The GMR has moved the AP High Court challenging the decision of the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) in discontinuing collection of user Development Fee for the next two years.
The GHIAL has concluded that the AERA has no jurisdiction to fix the UDF and it was the Central government of India who has power to take decision on this. As the central government remained inactive in taking decision in this matter then GHIAL suggested that the others who don’t have authority to take decision are now taking decision.
The GMR told the court that yardsticks that were applied to Bombay and Bengaluru airports were different and the method applied in this case totally differ. After a brief hearing, Justice Naveen Rao adjourned the proceedings.
GHAIL has been demanding Rs 430 and Rs 1,700 per embarking for domestic and international passenger respectively.
The AERA permitted them only on a make shift basis from November 1, 2010 for a time period five years.
