Goa CM assures to solve Mayem property issue
Goa Chief minister Manohar Parrikar has assured that he will resolve the long-pending Mayem evacuee property issue by conferring full benefits of all social legislations on Mayem residents.
Even after 50 years of Goa’s liberation, the local villagers are deprived of their proprietary rights in respect of their own land due to existence of the title of ‘Conde’ and ‘Condadede Mayem‘ conferred during the Portuguese regime.
As per Constitution of India, these titles stand abolished and the residents are entitled to all rights conferred by the apex law book.
The government has assured to bring in an appropriate legislation to redress the grievances of the people of Mayem and to provide all facilities including cemetery, cremation ground, recreational facilities, etc. in the area.
