Government proposes BBMP disposes in Bangalore
It has been come to the notice of the citizens in Bangalore that even though the state government has approved the appointment of 4,500 sweepers, the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has yet to make the appointments. The question paved its way to the floors during the BBMP council meet recently. The question was raised by the DJ Halli corporator Sampath Raj and corporator of Subhashnagar, T Mallesh. The question led to a furore in the meeting and the BJP corporators vehemently demanded that the statement should be immediately erased from the records.
The question was justifiable enough as the number of pourakarmikas (sweepers) in BBMP are less. Due to which many areas of the city are an eye sore to citizens. Unkempt garbage bins, over flowing sewage drains streets littered with garbage and are a common sight in many parts of the city. However in spite of the obvious signs there has not been any concrete measures taken by BBMP to tackle the situation amongst which is recruiting more sweepers.
