Govt asked to consider plea against creation of 11 districts by HC

GovNew Delhi- The city government was asked to revive its panel to re-look into the lawyers’ body plea formed against the formation of 11 judicial districts by the Delhi High Court.

The jurisdiction of few areas has been transferred to many places away from district courts. The Delhi High Court bench consisting of the Chief Justice D Murugesan and Justice V K Jain requested the government to revive its former panel which was lead by  the chief secretary to address the grievances of Dwarka Court Bar Association (DCBA).

The PIL filed by the DCWA was disposed off by the court due to the decline of the notification dated September 11 based on the fact that the decision made was violating the policy of ”justice at door step.”

There were two pre-existing sub-divisions, Vasant Vihar and Delhi Cant from South West District were taken out of the notification  and instead were merged with New Delhi district.

As per a DCWA secretary, the people residing under the  merged areas should approach the far off Patiala House courts.

Initially the government was asked by the court to familiarize it of reasons by January 7, 2013, apart from forming and reshuffling 11 new districts out of the existing nine.

It was stated by a DCWA official that the inappropriate notification is devoid of any logic or reason and is in the state of complete arbitrariness as per the inappropriate notifications functioning as per the contrary to the respondents own policy of ‘justice at door step”.

However, the plea requested the transfer of jurisdiction of areas and police stations situated close to Dwarka area to Dwarka district courts. Perhaps the notification failed to observe the hardship and inconvenience caused to the litigants.
