Haryana asks Maruti to pay Rs. 235 cr for farmer compensation

The Haryana government has asked Maruti Suzuki to pay Rs 235 crore to the state government as enhanced compensation to the farmers for land acquisition as ordered by Supreme Court for its plant in Manesar.
The company has been served three months notice and  warned that the land allotted for the Manesar plantwould be taken, if the company fails to make payment on time.

The company has been served two notices in the last two months and is yet to pay up.

Maruti Suzuki has a total land area of 600 acres in Manesar where it has two car manufacturing plants with a third one being constructed.

Interest rate will increase, if the company fails to make the payment on time. If they fail  (MSI) are getting delayed in depositing the amount, interest is accumulating day by day, added Kamal.

However, MSI had last week announced shutting down of plant at Manesar due to violence occurred.
