High Court Stays Land acquisition
Land acquisition process of around 321 acres in the Sampla village of Rohtak district has recently been stayed by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. HUDA had proposed to develop a residential sector in the area.
The Department of Town and Country Planning, HUDA and the Rohtak Land Acquisition Collector had also been issued notices by the High Court. They have been asked to respond to the contentions raised by the petitioner against the land acquisition process.
Justice Surya Kant headed Bench passed the orders while hearing a petition filed by Om Prakash of Sampla Village whose 12 acres were acquired. Despite there being around 350 acres of barren land owned by the local panchayat, the state government had arbitrarily initiated the process to acquire fertile land of farmers. The next hearing on the case now would be on April 9.
