Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) handed over its piece of land proposed for construction of a sewage treatment plant (STP) to L&T Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (LT-HMRL) for a metro rail project. The proposed STPs were about to cost Rs 825 crore to the water board. The Water Board got this 42 acres of land from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) to build a 80 million gallons a day (MGD) capacity STP. It also transferred four acres of land – two acres each in Hydernagar and Yousufguda – for metro rail’s parking and circulation areas.
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) had transferred 42 acres to the Water Board for construction of a 80 million gallons a day (MGD) capacity STP at Nallacheruvu under the National River Conservation Directorate (NRCD) phase-II as part of the Musi project. HMRL sought land to set up its pre-cast segment unit.
A team from the Union environment ministry had visited the proposed sites for STPs (including Nallacheruvu STP) last month. The Water Board submitted a detailed project report (DPR) of NRCD phase-II and proposed STPs to the tune of Rs 825 crore to the team, an official added.
