HUDA-MCG Spar over park in sector-12
A week after facing flak from the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) for installing advertisement hoardings in areas under its jurisdiction, the Municipal Corporation Gurgaon (MCG) is at the receiving end once again. This time, the issue is regarding the HUDA park in sector-12 that the corporation dug up in order to install a water pumping station.
Not only did the corporation take permission from the HUDA before digging up a 20-foot-deep pit, it also uprooted the rainwater harvesting structure that was installed in the park. The developing agency has also warned of accidents waiting to happen, since the pit is not properly barricaded.
In a strongly worded letter written by the HUDA estate officer to the municipal commissioner, the HUDA has asked the MCG to halt the work immediately and also pay adequate compensation for destroying the structure.
The residents of this sector have already expressed anger at the high-handed behaviour of the corporation. The MCG, on the other hand, rubbished these claims saying that they didn’t have to seek HUDA’s permission since they are building this facility for the public.
