Hyderabad faces serious power supply disruption

Residents of Hyderabad are experiencing increasing power woes, as the power supply department has resorted to increase in power cuts since a week. Srinagar Colony resident said that, the present power situations has turned worse because of the Telangana employees strike and claim to be spending days in dark.

In the present situation, residents are facing continuous power cuts for around six hours in a day. The Kakatiya Thermal Power Station and Kothagudem Thermal Power Station are facing a shortfall of 750 MW and 500 MW of power each and therefore have been shut down due to a technical snag. Hyderabad Central Discom sources say, the major shut down of the generating stations has thus resulted in the prolonged power crisis in areas like; Mahbubnagar, Ranga Reddy area, Ameerpet, Banjara Hills and Srinagar Colony.
In conclusion, Ajay Jain the chairman and managing director of AP Transco was reported saying that, the serious power disruption in the whole city has lost around 1,600 MW power from past two days and therefore they have been tracing alternatives to sort out this acute power shortage problem.
