Hyderabad to resume daily water supply

Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) resumed daily water supply to the core city.The Water Board had suspended drawing water from Osmansagar in May as it reached dead storage level now. Thanks to the good rainfall, now water level at Osmansagar is 1,788 feet, while its FTL is 1790 feet.The Water Board has decided to resume daily supplies to about three lakh of the 7.5 lakh connections.
It will take one or two weeks to ensure the daily supply.However, consumers will have to put up with reduced supplying hours. As against two-hour supply on alternate days, it will be just one-hour supply hereafter.The HMWS&SB is also ensuring bulk water supply to Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB), Osmania University and Military Engineering Services (MES), Railways and industrial units according to schedule.
The two main reservoirs Osmansagar and Himayatsagar have reached full tank level (FTLs). Water level at Osmansagar is 1,788 feet, while its FTL is 1790 feet. At Himayatsagar, the water level has touched 1,757 feet against its FTL of 1,763 feet.Also, the water level at Singur has reached 1717.440 feet against the FTL of 1717.850 feet.
Beneficiaries will be mostly those in the core city area and consumers in L.B. Nagar. However, consumers will have to put up with reduced supplying hours of one hours supply on alternate days. With the water position improving, the drawl from Osmansagar has been increased to 18 mgd.
