Impact of Bad Roads on Visarjan Proceedings
The traffic department of Mumbai, also in charge of the festival processions is worried about the tardy roads. The patchy job done by the civic body on the immersion routes in Mumbai gives Ganesh Mandals and the Traffic Authority of Mumbai sleepless nights. Individuals are worried about the bad roads in concern with the visarjan proceedings.
The mandal committee is deciding to have increase in number of volunteers to handle the idol. Generally, a huge mandal needs around 20-30 member volunteers to handle the idol. The committee members of this mandal say, “We don’t want to take risk of immersion processions in the tardy and uneven roads”.
Naresh Dahibawkar, president, Brihanmumbai Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Samnvay Samiti told, “The immersion routes are not in the best of conditions. The patchwork has resulted in uneven roads, and the procession will be hampered as it is unlikely that they will be able to navigate in a smooth manner.”
