Incessant Rains stops work of Road Restoration in Mangalore
The incessant rainfall in Mangalore have put in hold the road repair works across the city that was planned by the Mangalore City Corporation. The corporation had earlier taken the initiative to fill all the potholes across the roads of the city. Many areas of the city require urgent road restoration works. But the constant rainfall has made it difficult or the civic body to carry out the assignment. The condition of some of the roads like the stretch from Bunts Hostel to Dr B R Ambedkar Circle is pathetic. It is actually a night mare for the motorists to drive through the deprecating road.
The BJP-ruled civic authorities has initiated the restoration work filling up potholes along all the main bus routes in the city. This will be followed by restoration works of the interior roads, from November 2. Chairperson of the standing committee on town planning and development Mr Premanand Shetty have said that the restoration work will start as soon as the the rainfall stops. He also said that in the first phase of the work the potholes will be cleaned, cut and filled up. The work of actually asphalting the roads will commence from December.
