Industries in Gurgaon asked to obtain MCG Licence

No Comments Sub Category:Uncategorized Posted On: Jul 07, 2011

Any commercial activity within municipal limits of Gurgaon without obtaining business licence is “illegal and bound to be penalized” without any further notice under section 330 of the Act. The licence clause is applicable even for the existing establishments in the area with retrospective effect since the corporation came into existence in June 2008.

The industries in Udyog Vihar phases I-V have received separate notices from the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) office for commercial property tax to the tune of several lakhs for the past three years. The units have received notices from the MCG in keeping with the mandatory clause for these units to obtain MCG licence under the MC Act after payment of requisite fees.

The units have been given a deadline of seven days to file details like turnover, permission obtained from the industry’s body, copy of building plan, etc and an affidavit with a week’s time to acquire the licence.

“The fee amount has to be calculated as it will be from the time the MCG came into existence. However, we have received a few objections and are looking into the matter,” confirmed the joint commissioner, division II, Veena Hooda. The fee amount has been calculated according to the turnover per annum. The minimum amount payable is Rs 300 for a unit with up to Rs 50,000 of the annual turnover. As turnover slabs increase, the fee to be paid also increases in direct proportion.
