Karnataka high court issues notices over bandh
Karnataka high court issues notices to chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, state unit BJP head KS Eshwarappa, chief secretary SV Ranganath, home secretary Shiva Kumar and DGP Ajai Kumar Singh over bandh. The PIL filed by city-based advocate V Bopanna, contended that the bandh was illegal.
The Karnataka high court ordered issue of notices to chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, state unit BJP head KS Eshwarappa and chief secretary SV Ranganath over the ruling-party sponsored bandh on January 22. The bandh call was given by BJP to protest governor HR Bhardwaj’s sanction for prosecution of Yeddyurappa in alleged land scams.
The petitioner termed the bandh as “self-sponsored by the BJP for its selfish political motives”.The division bench comprising Chief Justive JS Khehar and Justice AS Bopanna also ordered issue of notices to home secretary Shiva Kumar and DGP Ajai Kumar Singh on a PIL filed by city-based advocate V Bopanna, who contended that the bandh was illegal.
