Kerala High Court slams Government Inability to Maintain roads in Kerala
Acting on the orders of the Kerala High Court, the Kerala state government has announced that the completion of the work for the restoration of roads will be completed by November 30. The announcement came after the High Court had directed the government to finish the work within three weeks in the state as well as Kochi. However the government had asked for some more time citing bad weather conditions.
Earler a Public Interest Litigation(PIL) was filed by the owner of Suburban Travels, Mr C P Ajith Kumar and Ernakulam Merchants’ Union. The court in its verdict had severely censured the government and Kochi Corporation for their total failure to maintain the roads. It said the deprecating roads are a shame to the image of the state therefore the restoration work should be started vigorously. In its observation it also said that the bad condition of the roads have played a definitive part in several deaths in Kochi.
