Lack of coordination delays road projects in Valsad

No Comments Sub Category:Cities,Construction,Infrastructure,Other cities,Realty News Posted On: Jan 25, 2013

Road constructionValsad- Valsad district of Gujarat have lots of infrastructural projects in the state of obliviousness. These forgotten projects are mostly in Umbergaon Taluka and includes mainly the road projects.

It is due to lack of proper coordination between several inter government departments and environment clearance and  failure of authorities to solve pending issues.

A road was suggested to connect the proposed Nargol greenfield port with national highway 8 (NH-8) is still stuck in issues. This road named Bhilad-Nargol road would be 14 km long and has still not got clearances from revenue, forest and electric department.

The estimated cost of this proposed road is around Rs 60 crore. Gujarat State Road Development Corporation (GSRDC) has assigned this work to Relcon Infrastructure on annuity basis. Forest and environment department have not yet given green signal to cut trees for widening the present road.

Additionally, many landowners whose lands are falling under this project are demanding for compensation according to the prevailing market rates. Land acquisition officer feels that such land possession issues are directly impacting the work of Bhilad-Nargol road. The authorities assured Relcon Infrastructure to clear all the issues within short period of time. But no initiative has been taken from their side yet.

Taking another example of Sanjan-Umbergaon main road project in Valsasd, which is also facing similar kind of issues. The contract of this Rs 11 crore road project was given to Jay Bharat Road Lines. This project has been delayed because the social forestry department denied to give permission to cut trees which lies parallel to the border of proposed road. Concerned authorities are having discussion from past six months in this regard.

Another project, Sarigam-Manda pipeline is also on hold due to several local issues.
