Land denotification: Indelicacy of BDA
At least 57 plots developed by the BDA are in a state of confusion, because the titles have been snatched from the owners. The BDA had denotified plots sizing a total of 10 acres.
The land is described as ‘muffet kaval’ which means it is government owned. But after denotification, the land ownership was transferred on two individuals
Denotification of land
Denotification of land may be the cancellation of a notification of intent to accumulate property. Notification along with denotification is normally issued through government authorities, especially in India. Denotification also comes into picture when the court has cancelled the acquisition of land by a state government.
Chief Minister asks BDA to resurvey
After hearing about the denotified a 10 acres of land by BDA which was given to a private builder for luxury apartment complex, the CM of Karnataka directed the BDA to resurvey the entire area that has been denotified. Some of the allottees went to high court, while others complained to the BMTF.
The denotification happened long ago by the state government. Despite of the fact, BDA had been collecting tax from the allottees till long time. Now, the BDA seem to have woken up to the mistakes of not informing the site allottees and continuing to collect tax from them. This happened because of lack of co-ordination within the BDA.
Bangalore Development Authority is going to compensate the land allottees, who lost their land due to denotification, with an alternative site. But so far only three of the applicants have approached BDA, according to sources.
If sources are to be believed then a former defence personal who owned a property in the first block of Visvesvaraya Layout, was one of the affected allottees, but BDA allotted the defence personal another site in the same block of Visvesvaraya Layout. But what about others who does not know about the denotification. BDA Chief claimed that other allottees will also get fresh sites, if not in the same block.
The question still remains that whether the entire layout has been denotified or only some portion of the layout is denotified. Apart from the fact that how come only three land allottees have come forward regarding the issue.
