L&T Hyderabad Metro’s revenue plan
Hyderabad- L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited project is developed on a revenue model which aims to collect 50 percent revenue from passenger fares, 45 percent revenue from property development and the remaining five percent from advertisement and other miscellaneous sources.
The Rs 14,132-crore metro rail project is one of the largest urban infrastructure projects in India under public-private partnership (PPP model). It is also one of the largest investments in the state which is expected to generate 50,000 jobs and many ancillary industries in Hyderabad and surrounding areas.
This rail project will run along 71.16 km distance with three corridors having 66 stations. The first phase connects Nagole to Miyapur. The second phase runs till Hi-tech city and the last phase connects to Mehdipatnam.
L&T has raised Rs 12,674 crore and the remaining Rs 1,458 crore would be funded by the central government. Additionally the state government is spending Rs 1,980 crore for acquisition of 204 acres of private land, rehabilitation and pedestrian facilities, creation of right of way through road widening and shifting of utilities.
The Socio-Economic Survey for 2012-13 revealed in Legislative Assembly said that the innovative designs of metro have made this project financially viable.
The metro project is expected to have a direct investment of Rs 20,000 crore which includes project cost, property development component, and expenditure being incurred by the state government and substantial spin off investments.
The Hyderabad metro was allotted Rs 350 crore in 2011-12 and Rs 600 crore in 2012-13 fiscal as a part of state government contribution. The recent budget has allotted Rs 500 crore to this project.
