Lukewarm response to Association’s call to boycott Autos

No Comments Sub Category:Community,Uncategorized Posted On: Oct 31, 2011

Mumbai Autorickshaw Commuter Association‘s (MACA) call to not to use autos on Sunday in Mumbai so as to mark a protest against the antics of  auto drivers met with a lukewarm response. Though the founder of MACA, Mr K R Parmeshwar said that the agitation was successful,  however many drivers said that their business was not hampered by the agitation. Many said that they did not encounter any instance where the commuters have actually boycotted the autos.

Earlier the MACA had called upon the commuters to boycott the autos on Sunday. The agitation was aimed to teach errant auto drivers a lesson. Commuters in Mumbai have to constantly bear with the caprices of auto-drivers and auto unions. Citizens felt that the protest was not advertised properly and the message failed to reach the masses to witness a mass participation.
