Maharashtra Forest Department to Plant 100 crore Saplings

The senior forest officials approved an ambitious scheme to plant 100 crore saplings across the state in Maharashtra. The principal forest secretary Praveensingh Pardesi reported saying that they have come up with a comprehensive plan to plant 100 cr saplings within a year. However the government agencies are initiating NGOs, educational institutions and entrepreneurs for the green city drive. The forest department of Maharashtra has set a target of increasing the forest cover all over the city by 33%.

The effective implementation of this scheme has been taken intiative by the two independent committees. Meanwhile one of the committee headed by the chief conservator of forests focused on planting saplings on lands belonging to the central agencies, the other committee headed by the chief secretary considers the proposals received from entrepreneurs from the concerned department. This green drive taken initiative in Maharashtra has been funded by the national scheme. The positive growth behind this plan is that the fresh rural employment is expected to come on floors soon.
