Mavallipura issue rocks BBMP council
The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike’s (BBMP) budget session was committed to Ramky Environ, which manages the Mavallipura dumping yard.
Opposition leader MK Gunashekar questioned the mayor that why the ruling party was protecting Ramky’ engineers who were responsible for water and air pollution in the area and surrounding villages.
Gunashekar accused Ramky of polluting the groundwater in the area and Mavallipura Lake by disposing unscientific garbage.
Gunashekar said that the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) had written a letter to the BBMP stating of highly contaminated water and air pollution. The KSPCB had also called for a meeting in this regard. But the BBMP officers are so negligent that they failed to attend the meeting.
