MCG plans to construct FOB in Old Delhi road
Gurgaon: The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) is planning to construct a foot over bridge (FOB) at village Dundahera near the Kapashera border in Old Delhi Road. This move will help the pedestrians in crossing the busy road in a safe way.
The bridge is likely to benefit the residents of Saraswati Vihar, Udyog Vihar (Phase 1), besides visitors to Fun’n’Food Village situated along the Old Delhi road.
MCG Commissioner, Ashok Sangwan, said that a detailed project report (DPR) of the foot over bridge will be prepared and sent to the head office at Chandigarh for approval. Once it is approved, the construction of the bridge can be started, he added.
The Commissioner said that, since a large number of people will have to cross the road every day with a lot of risk, the FOB will be very helpful to them.
The total cost of the FOB is estimated to be around Rs 2 crore. But as per the plan, there will be no escalator to the FOB. One has to use stairs in order to cross the road.
Meanwhile, the residents of the surrounding localities have welcomed the proposal of FOB. A resident alleged that, he and many of his friends have to cross the road everyday amidst heavy traffic flow while putting their lives in danger. He said that the residents will be happy to use the FOB and also the movement of vehicles will not be disturbed.
According to sources, the MCG has been planning to construct as many as 14 FOBs at various vulnerable spots across the city, including Sadar Bazar, Mini Secretariat, Railway road, Atul Kataria Chowk, Sukhrali, Pataudi road etc.
The MCG Commissioner stated that the Corporation is already working on the project. It has been planned to build the FOB on build operate and transfer basis, said the commissioner.
